Teniendo esto en cuenta, el presente documento tiene el objetivo de indagar en la realización palatal fricativa de ese fonema tanto en hablantes chilenos como en otros de zonas geográficamente próximas (principalmente Bolivia, Perú y Argentina). También se propone encontrar una explicación articulatoria e histórica siguiendo los patrones de evolución propios del español (con evidencias acústicas y perceptivas), así como llevar a cabo una aproximación sociolingüística del fenómeno. ENGLISH: Previously carried acoustic analysis have already shown information about the existence of at least two allophones for /x/ in Chilean Spanish. Having that in mind, this paper aims to inquire into the fricative realization of this phoneme both in Chile and geographically close varieties of the language (Bolivia, Perú and Argentina, mainly). Also, an articulatory and historical explanation for this must be addressed through natural Spanish evolutionary patterns (with acoustic and perceptive evidence) as well as a sociolinguistic approximation.
