Abstract:
Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit war es zu ermitteln, welche Softwarelösungen DolmetscherInnen zur Verfügung stehen und ob der Rückgriff auf dolmetschspezifische Programme effizienter als die Verwendung von Papier-Glossaren ist. Zur Beantwortung der ersten Forschungsfrage wurden verschiedenste Programme beschrieben, von denen DolmetscherInnen Gebrauch machen können: allgemeine Programme, Programme zur Verwaltung von Dokumenten sowie dolmetschspezifische Programme. Auf das korpuslinguistische Programm InterpretBank, das speziell für DolmetscherInnen entwickelt wurde und derzeit eines der nutzerfreundlichsten Tools für einen Kabineneinsatz darstellt, wurde detailliert eingegangen. Auf die zweite Forschungsfrage lieferten zwei durchgeführte Experimente die Antwort. Bei dem ersten Experiment bewerteten die ProbandInnen die Benutzbarkeit von InterpretBank während eines einzigen Simultaneinsatzes (Simulation), bei dem zweiten stand ihnen die Anwendung zwei Monate lang zur Verfügung. Die zu überprüfende Hypothese lautete in beiden Fällen: die Verwendung von InterpretBank ist effizienter als die Verwendung von Papier-Glossaren? Die Ergebnisse wurden mittels der Fragebogen-Methode erfasst. Für die Auswertung standen zwölf von ihnen ausgefüllte Fragebögen zur Verfügung. Basierend auf den erhaltenen Daten (insgesamt 69% davon waren positiv) und Kommentaren konnte festgestellt werden, dass die Verwendung von InterpretBank tatsächlich effizienter ist als andere Lösungen (vor allem als in MS Word oder Excel erstellte Papierglossare). Gelobt wurden u.a. die dynamische Suche, die Verwaltung der Glossare in einer einzigen Datenbank und das Lernen von Vokabeln im MemoryMode. Aufgrund der geringen Anzahl der TeilnehmerInnen sind die Ergebnisse zwar quantitativ nicht aussagekräftig, können aber als Feasibility Test für eine größere, später folgende qualitative Studie dienen. ; The aim of this Master’s thesis is to determine which software solutions are available for interpreters and whether it is more efficient to use programmes intended specifically for interpreters instead of paper glossaries. In order to answer the first research question, various software applications available to interpreters are described: general programmes, programmes for document management and programmes intended specifically for interpreters. The software InterpretBank, which was developed using the corpus linguistics approach and is currently one of the most user-friendly tools for the use in the booth, is discussed in detail. The answer to the second research question was provided by two experiments carried out specifically for the purpose of this thesis. In the first experiment, the participants rated the usability of InterpretBank during a single simultaneous interpretation (simulation) session; in the second experiment, the programme was available to them for the period of two months. The same hypothesis was tested in both experiments: The use of InterpretBank is more efficient than the use of paper glossaries. The results were recorded by means of questionnaires. 12 completed questionnaires were available for the evaluation. Based on the data (69% of positive responses) and comments obtained, it was found that the use of InterpretBank is indeed more efficient than other solutions (especially paper glossaries created in MS Word or Excel). The testers especially appreciated, for example, the dynamic search function, management of glossaries in a single database and MemoryMode for learning vocabulary. Due to the small number of participants, the results are not quantitatively significant, but can serve as a feasibility test for a larger qualitative study in the future.
