Allain, Greg; Chiasson, Guy.
; In the context of territorial identities being redefined in favor of local and regional identities, the present research explores the Acadian relationship to territory through the creation of a new collective area, New Brunswick’s “Greater Southeast”. This territory is not recognized officially anywhere and is the outcome of joint initiatives by various economic development organizations in the region. The strong growth of Greater Moncton over the last two decades has strengthened the economic ties with the surrounding Francophone rural areas and has resulted in the creation of a regional “lived territory”. However, a recent complete reorganization of regional development agencies in the province leaves open the question of the durability of this new “lived territory”.
