Abstract:
Η βιβλιοθήκη διαθέτει αντίτυπο της διατριβής σε έντυπη μορφή. ; Διατριβή (Διδακτορική)--Πανεπιστήμιο Μακεδονίας, Θεσσαλονίκη, 2010. ; Περιλαμβάνει βιβλιογραφικές αναφορές (σ. 227-238). ; 023/2010 ; Η πλοήγηση στον Παγκόσμιο Ιστό (ΠΙ) για Άτομα με Αναπηρίες (ΑμεΑ) παρουσιάζει πολλά προβλήματα. Η παρούσα διατριβή παρουσιάζει την ιδέα των Συντομεύσεων Πλοήγησης (ΣΠ) σαν ένα τρόπο αντιμετώπισης κάποιων από τα προβλήματα αυτά. Εξειδικεύει μάλιστα στα προβλήματα των Χρηστών με Απώλεια Όρασης (ΧμεΑΟ) κατά την πλοήγησή τους στον ΠΙ στη διάρκεια εργασιών αναζήτησης. Όπως διαπιστώνεται, βασικό αίτιο για τα προβλήματα των ΧμεΑΟ είναι η αδυναμία μεταφοράς της οπτικής μεταπληροφορίας που μεταφέρουν οι ιστοσελίδες, λόγω της σχεδίασής τους, στους βλέποντες χρήστες. Οι ΣΠ είναι ένας μηχανισμός «αποζημίωσης» των ΑμεΑ για την πληροφορία που χάνουν κατά την πλοήγηση τους. Για τους ΧμεΑΟ συγκεκριμένα, δίνουν τη δυνατότητα να γνωρίζουν ότι η εκάστοτε ιστοσελίδα περιέχει συγκεκριμένες περιοχές περιεχομένου και λειτουργικά στοιχεία. Παράλληλα, παρέχουν και την απαραίτητη λειτουργικότητα ώστε ο χρήστης να μπορεί να μεταβεί γρήγορα και εύκολα στα συγκεκριμένα στοιχεία και να τα αξιοποιήσει ανάλογα. Το τεχνολογικό πλαίσιο που στηρίζει την υλοποίηση των ΣΠ βασίζεται στον Σημασιολογικό Ιστό (ΣΙ) εξασφαλίζοντας έτσι την επεκτασιμότητα και ανεξαρτησία της υλοποίησης από την κοινότητα των ανθρώπων που παράγουν σήμερα το περιεχόμενο του ΠΙ. Στηρίζει έτσι την υλοποίηση της ιδέας σε μία νέα κοινότητα ατόμων με κατάλληλα κίνητρα (πχ. συγγενών, φίλων) που αποτελείται από ομάδες με διακριτούς ρόλους. Από τις αξιολογήσεις, μέσα από κατάλληλα πειράματα, προέκυψαν συγκεκριμένα συμπεράσματα. Οι ΧμεΑΟ με τις ΣΠ κατέβαλαν λιγότερο κόπο και διάβαζαν πιο γρήγορα κάθε σελίδα από ότι χωρίς τη χρήση αυτών. Αυτό οδήγησε στην αύξηση του αριθμού των επισκεπτόμενων σελίδων κατά τη διάρκεια των διαδικασιών αναζήτησης άρα και στην αύξηση της ποσότητας πληροφορίας που ανακτούσαν από τη διαδικασία. Συνδυάζοντας τα παραπάνω με την πιο προσεκτική ανάγνωση των σελίδων που παρατηρήθηκε με τις ΣΠ και την αλλαγή στρατηγικής κατά την πλοήγηση των χρηστών μέσα στις ιστοσελίδες, καταλαβαίνουμε πως εκτός της ποσότητας βελτιώθηκε και η ποιότητα της πληροφορίας που έλαβαν κατά την αναζήτηση με τις ΣΠ. Επιπλέον μελετήθηκαν και δύο ακόμα εκδοχές των ΣΠ. Από τα αποτελέσματα των αντίστοιχων πειραμάτων, παρατηρούμε πως για την αποδοτική χρήση της χωρικής πληροφορίας των Χωρικά Εμπλουτισμένων ΣΠ (ΧΕΣΠ) χρειάζεται περισσότερος χρόνος εξοικείωσης με αυτήν. Αντιθέτως, κάτι τέτοιο δεν είναι απαραίτητο σε συστήματα που προσαρμόζουν τις ΣΠ όπως οι Προσαρμοστικές ΣΠ (ΠΣΠ) που φαίνεται να αποδίδουν με πολύ θετικά αποτελέσματα άμεσα. ; Browsing in the World Wide Web (WWW) for disabled users poses a series of problems. This thesis presents the idea of Browsing Shortcuts (BS) as a way of dealing with those problems. In particular, it specializes in the problems that Visually Impaired (VI) people confront when browsing the WWW. After a thorough analysis of the problems of VI users, it is obvious that the main cause for them is that today web pages carry a great deal of visual meta-information for sighted users, which is not communicated to VI users. BSs is a mechanism that compensates disabled users for the information they lose while browsing. For VI users in particular, BS allow them to recognize easily content areas and functional elements of web pages. In addition, BSs also provide users with the necessary functionality to transfer them quickly to the each of the elements in order to use them appropriately. The technological framework supporting the implementation of the BSs idea is based on Semantic Web (SW) technologies. This way the implementation of BSs ensures its extensibility, scalability and independence from the current web content production community. The implementation of BS is supported by a community of people that are motivated to participate (eg. family, friends), and are separated into groups with specific roles. The evaluation process, through experiments, led to specific conclusions about the application of BSs. VI users using the BSs made less effort and read quicker the web pages compared to the browsing without the BSs. The latter, also led to the increase of web page visits during an information seeking process and in the increase of information read by the users during it. Combining these findings with the fact that users read web pages more carefully when using the BSs, than without them, and the change of strategy during their browsing within web pages, we understand that apart from the quantity of information, the quality of the information retrieved is also increased. In addition, two more versions of the BSs idea were also examined in order to find whether they can improve even more the browsing with BSs. The results from the respective experiments show that, in order for Spatially Enriched BSs to be used effectively users need a bigger familiarization period with the spatial information. On the contrary, this is not the case with the use of Adaptive BSs which adapt the BSs list according to users’ needs and seem to perform with quite positive results.
