Abstract:
Autism is a condition in which auditory processing can differ from that of allistic (non-autistic) people. The specific ways in which speech comprehension can be different is poorly understood, especially in terms of how this relates to health related quality of life. This study will use a speech-in-noise test (coordinate response measure, CRM) to identify any differences in ability between autistic and allistic populations in comprehending speech in complex environments. In addition, this study will use a custom questionnaire and standard instruments to determine how this relates to health related quality of life and hearing related quality of life.
