Abstract:
Evidence-based practice (EBP) is an approach that consists of answering clinical questions guided by the professional's experience, combined with evidence from high-level studies, in addition to the patient's participation in decision-making, thus allowing the realization of clinical practice with greater efficacy, safety, and quality (1). Systematic reviews present a high level of scientific evidence, having a good study design and rigorous methodology to support EBP, providing evidence with high reliability and with a lower risk of bias (2). EBP is used in several areas of health, such as medicine, nursing, dentistry, and speech therapy (3). Speech therapy is a field that can act in several areas, including orofacial motricity and dysphagia, which work on breathing, chewing, swallowing, and speaking. To achieve the therapeutic goals, one can make use of several strategies, such as the use of oromiofunctional exercises, protective maneuvers that facilitate swallowing, tactile-thermal stimulation, ...
