¿Hubo también una Críside novelesca? Algunas observaciones al P.Gen. inv. 65 (LDBA 5268)
Abstract:
; The P. Gen. inv. 65 belongs to a lot of papyri, coming from Arsinoites, bought by Jules Nicole in the years 1892-1893. The Greek text on the recto was defined as "sorte de commentaire philosophique". As such it was also recorded by Pack2 under the nr. 2995. It was published for the first time by M. Serena Funghi in Analecta Papyrologica, vol. V, 1993, pp. 5-19, with an Addendum by Fabrizio Conca. It is a text written in a round book-writing of the second half of the 2nd century AD, which transmits part of three columns of writing seriously incomplete. The deciphering of the writing is very problematic, but Serena Funghi had already been able to absolutely exclude that it was a philosophical commentary, defining it as an erotic fragment belonging to a narrative context. We can identify a scene in which a female character speaks in the first person addressing another character who is also female. A male interlocutor is not excluded. It is assumed that the fragment is taken from a novel. It has already been included as incertum in 1998 edition of papyrus fragments of Greek novels. Here the papyrus undergoes a new revision. A very accurate edition is proposed, accompanied by a large critical apparatus. A translation follows, reflecting the incomplete state of the text, and a commentary that discusses the philological and linguistic aspects, the scenes, the characters, the hypotheses. There are echoes of Chariton and other novelists; the comedy of Menander, the mime, Lucianus, the anthology of letters by Alcifrone and others. A hypothetical reconstruction of the story is offered.
