Rosensteiner, Verena. - : (:none), 2019 Abstract: Vurgun (2014) investigated masked (subliminal) syntactic priming by using the lexical decision task. She was not able to find a syntactic priming effect. Therefore the task was changed in this study in order to fulfil the criterion of conditional automaticity. A classification task was used to investigate masked syntactic priming. This was done by measuring the influence of masked German pronouns and pseudo-pronouns as primes on clearly visible verbs or nouns as targets. 10 men and 12 women from the age of 23 to 35 participated. We measured reaction times and error rates of the participants doing the classification task. The study aimed on finding out if syntactic congruence has an influence on processing, i.e. if verbs as opposed to nouns are recognized faster and with smaller error rates, if they are preceded by a pronoun as prime. A syntactically congruent condition is a pronoun as prime and a verb as target, an incongruent condition is a pronoun before a noun. Da der erwartete syntaktische Priming-Effekt nicht eintrat, wurde in der vorliegenden Masterarbeit die durchzuführende Aufgabe geändert, um das Kriterium der bedingten Automatizität zu erfüllen. Es wurde daher maskiertes syntaktisches Priming unter Anwendung einer Klassifikationsaufgabe untersucht. Dabei wurde der Einfluss von maskierten Pronomen bzw. Pseudopronomen als Primes auf gut sichtbare Verben bzw. Substantive als Targets gemessen. Es nahmen 10 Männer und 12 Frauen im Alter von 23-35 Jahren teil. Gemessen wurden Reaktionszeiten und Fehlerraten bei Durchführung der Klassifikationsaufgabe.
