Research strategy: We did na integrative review through five databases: Embase, LILACS, Pubmed/Medline, Scopus and Web of Science. And also the grey literature: Google Scholar, OpenGrey e ProQuest Teses e Dissertations. Selection criteria: We included articles available as full text in english, portuguese and Spanish, with no restriction for time of publication. Of 351 articles found, 26 met the elegibility criteria. Results: The articles contemplastes de role of the speech therapist orofacial motricity, voice, snoring and evaluation of the patients’ and physicians’ noticing of the speech therapist’s importance in the pre- and post-operative period. They were published between 2005 and 2020, for the most recente ones. There was a female gender predominance and the age ranged from 21 to 68 years old. The size of the sample studied ranged from 1 to 149 participants. Conclusion: According to the reviewed articles, the speech therapy is essential in the pre- and post-operative for the process of adaptation to the bariatric surgery, adapting the oromiofunctional and phonatory structures and functions, leading to a better quality of life for patients. ; O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a atuação do fonoaudiólogo no pré e/ou pós operatório de pacientes submetidos a cirurgia bariátrica. Estratégia de pesquisa: Realizada uma revisão integrativa usando cinco base de dados: Embase, LILACS, PubMed/Medline, Scopus e Web of Science. Utilizando também a literatura cinzenta: Google Scholar, OpenGrey e ProQuest Teses e Dissertações. Critérios de seleção: Estudos disponíveis na forma de texto completo em inglês, português ou espanhol, sem restrição de tempo de publicação. De 351 artigos encontrados nas bases de dados, 26 foram selecionados através dos critérios de elegibilidade. Resultados: Os artigos contemplam as áreas de atuação da fonoaudiologia na motricidade orofacial, voz, ronco, além de avaliar a percepção de pacientes e médicos sobre a importância da fonoaudiologia no pré e no pós operatório. Os artigos foram publicados entre 2005 até os mais recentes que ocorreram no ano de 2020. Houve predomínio do sexo feminino nos estudos e a idade dos participantes variou de 21 a 68 anos de idade. O tamanho da população amostral variou de um único individuo a 149 participantes. Conclusão: De acordo com os estudos revisados, a atuação do fonoaudiólogo no pré e pós operatório é fundamental para o processo de adaptação da cirurgia bariátrica adequando as estruturas e funções oromiofuncionais e fonatória, levando a uma melhor qualidade de vida aos pacientes.
