Abstract:
No início do séc. XX, com o final da era imperial, a China testemunhou grandes transformações políticas e sociais. Após décadas de crescente contestação ao uso predominante de chinês clássico na escrita, a era republicana viveu uma enorme mudança de paradigma linguístico, resultante de vários apelos a uma generalização do chinês vernacular. Para além da vertente linguística, diferentes vozes do movimento Nova Cultura incitavam ainda à reflexão e a mudanças em vários aspectos da sociedade, defendendo para isso a criação de uma nova literatura e a experimentação literária em chinês vernacular. A chamada para uma revolução literária em 1917 marcaria o início da literatura moderna chinesa. O presente relatório de projecto pretende levar a cabo uma caracterização das primeiras experimentações literárias em chinês vernacular e publicadas na revista Nova Juventude, instrumento no centro do debate cultural durante o movimento Nova Cultura. Após uma reflexão sobre os artigos e figuras que impulsionaram o movimento, o trabalho foca-se nas criações literárias que responderam aos primeiros apelos, e apresenta os elementos que contribuíram para a construção de uma nova literatura no país. Para além disso, são ainda analisadas algumas das mudanças linguísticas que, tendo origem neste período, persistem no chinês de hoje. ; In the beginning of the twentieth century, China went through significant social and political changes with the end of the imperial era. After decades of growing dissatisfaction towards the exclusivity of classic Chinese in writing, the republican era saw a tremendous shift in the language paradigm, due to the demand for the dissemination of vernacular Chinese. Parallel to this linguistic side, different voices from the New Culture movement started to call for reflection and change throughout several aspects of society, supporting the construction of a new literature and literary experiments with vernacular Chinese. The call for a literary revolution in 1917 would mark the beginning of modern Chinese literature. This project aims to give a characterization of several first literary experiments in vernacular Chinese and published in magazine New Youth, a central instrument in the cultural debate during the New Culture movement. After a commentary on the articles and figures that started the movement, the report focuses on the literary creations that responded to those first appeals and presents the elements that contributed for the construction of a new literature in China. Furthermore, it draws attention to specific linguistic changes that first occurred in this period and still exist in today’s Chinese.
