Abstract:
In this article argue that is linguistic rationalism is guilty of ignoring the fact that an understanding of the non-conceptual realm of disclosive symbolic forms —those that are used to make, for example, a feeling or a way of being accessible to someone without asserting it— is also a necessary feature of participation in linguistic practice. I suggest that Brandom is dangerously close to displaying a scientistic insensitivity to an important and positive sense in which our linguistic practice ought to remain mysterious to us. ... : {"references": ["Brandom, Robert (1994).
