Volkslinguïstiek en dialectlexicografie in de zuidelijke Nederlanden
In: Lexikos; Vol. 19 (2009) ; 2224-0039 (2011)
Sleutelwoorden: LEXICOGRAFIE, TAALVARIATIE, AMATEUR, AMATEURLEXICO-GRAFIE, DIALECTLEXICOGRAFIE, WOORDENBOEK, WOORDBEELD, REGIONAAL WOOR-DENBOEK, LOKAAL WOORDENBOEK, DIALECT, TRADITIONEEL DIALECT, VLAAMS, NEDERLANDS, NEDERLAND, BELGIË, METHODOLOGIE, TREFWOORD, GEBRUIKERS-GROEP, BRUIKBAARHEID, CORRESPONDENTIEREGELSAbstract: Folk Linguistics and Dialect Lexicography in the Southern Netherlands. Professional lexicography for the southern Dutch dialects has produced three major regional dialect dic-tionaries: the Dictionary of the Brabantic Dialects (WBD), the Dictionary of the Limburgian Dialects (WLD) and the Dictionary of the Flemish Dialects (WVD). The three dictionaries are, however, to be considered rather as the-matically arranged collections of dialect words aimed at geographical research than as real dictionaries meticulously providing semantic information on the dialect lexicon. Therefore, the 'dialect renaissance' in the Netherlands and Flanders and the lexicographical activity of local amateurs which accompanies it, is a grati-fying phenomenon. It is necessary to incorporate the numerous local dialect dictionaries published during the last decades in an efficient searchable database, which could serve as a very important addition to the results of professional dialect lexicography. Keywords: LEXICOGRAPHY; LANGUAGE VARIATION; AMATEUR; AMATEUR LEXI-COGRAPHY; DIALECT LEXICOGRAPHY; DICTIONARY; WRITTEN WORD; REGIONAL DIC-TIONARY; LOCAL DICTIONARY; DIALECT; TRADITIONAL DIALECT; FLEMISH; DUTCH; THE NETHERLANDS; BELGIUM; METHODOLOGY; HEADWORD; USER GROUP; USEFUL-NESS; CORRESPONDENCY RULES
