Abstract:
Based on a case study in three technical and vocational schools, we conducted a qualitative research following an ethnographic approach to register how students solve programming tasks and organize their resting periods. Based on students’ experiences, we observed how they experience time upon a challenging and interesting cognitive demand. In these cases, the breaks are organized around the activities as opposed to school schedules. Students link breaks to three different moments: they feel tired, they are stuck in a problem, or they finish the task. Their resting activity consists of chatting in the classroom, using their cellphone, or clearing their mind through games. Students manage problem solving time and resting time dialectically; one moment influences the other and everything is negotiated with teachers. ; A través de un estudio de caso en tres escuelas secundarias técnicas con orientación en programación se realizó una investigación cualitativa de corte etnográfica en la que se registraron los modos en que las y los estudiantes resuelven tareas de programación y organizan sus momentos de descanso. Recuperando las experiencias estudiantiles, se pudo observar cómo vivencian el tiempo cuando hay proyectos con desafíos cognitivos interesantes, en donde los cortes en su jornada escolar están fuertemente vinculados a la resolución de actividad escolar propuesta en vez de la estructura del horario escolar. Los recreos se ligan al sentido de la tarea, donde los descansos se vinculan a tres momentos diferentes: porque sienten cansancio, por una traba en su actividad o porque finalizaron la tarea. Mientras que la manera en que se descansa se observa en actividades como quedarse en el aula a conversar, usar el celular o despejarse a través del juego. Tiempo de trabajo y tiempo de descanso se manejan dialécticamente, donde se observa la heterogeneidad de los tiempos de aprendizaje del estudiantado enlazados a las propuestas de trabajo escolar y lo negociado con sus docentes.
