In: Communication & langages, N 203, 1, 2020-02-27, pp.63-80 (2020)
; This article proposes an analysis of the “bookporn” phenomenon on Instagram, which consists of a book display according to a certain number of implicit visual criteria, structured both by the practices of the Internet users and the editorial framing of the platform. The aim will be to show that the “poetic” effects of these iconographies fit closely with the norms set by the apparatus, more than they reverse them. In this respect, the presence of the book on Instagram does not come under a subversive process of the social network logics, but appears to be a specific declination among the diversity of potential theming offered by Instagram. Through the practices of “bookporn”, the question arises of what literature does to social networks, but also of what social networks do to the representation of the literary.
