Abstract:
This research focuses on identity transformations during professional transitions. We refer to a model of the self, considered as a dynamic system of subjective identity forms (Guichard, 2004). We carried out two series of career counseling interviews with people who are struggling to change their professional life. The interviews were based on the model of the Life Design Conseling Dialogues (Guichard et al., 2017). We refer to constructivism in social psychology, which considers that representations and mental structures are the result of a construction process in which interactions and interlocutions play a major role (Guichard and Huteau, 2006). Starting from an inductive approach, we observed two series of interviews as moments of communicative interaction that provoke a change in identity, or a rewriting of oneself. The transcripts had been analyzed: thematic content analysis, both manual and automated; and coding to identify the different forms of dialogues: reported speeches, dialogues with oneself, or reflective. The results specify on the one hand some modalities of the reorganization of the subjective identity forms system. They reveal a linguistic dimension of project construction process from the tenses of the verbs used to evoke an imagined project; and finally they describe some configurations of narrative identity. ; Cette recherche porte sur les transformations identitaires lors de transitions professionnelles. Nous nous sommes appuyé sur un modèle du soi conçu comme un système dynamique de formes identitaires subjectives (Guichard, 2004). Nous avons mené deux séries d’entretien auprès de personnes ayant des problématiques de changement dans leur vie professionnelle. Les entretiens étaient construits sur le modèle des Dialogues de conseil en Life Design (Guichard et al., 2017). Nous nous référons au constructivisme en psychologie sociale, qui considère que les représentations et les structures mentales sont le résultat d’un processus de construction dans lequel les interactions et les interlocutions jouent un rôle majeur (Guichard et Huteau, 2006). Partant d’une démarche inductive, nous avons observé deux séries d’entretiens comme des moments d’interaction communicative qui provoquent du changement dans l’identité, ou une réécriture de soi. Les retranscriptions ont fait l’objet de plusieurs analyses de contenu, manuelles et automatisées; puis d’un codage permettant de repérer les différentes formes de dialogues : discours rapportés, dialogues avec soi, ou réflexifs. Les résultats précisent d’une part des modalités de la réorganisation du système de formes identitaires subjective. Ils font apparaitre une dimension langagière du processus de construction de projet à partir des temps des verbes utilisés pour évoquer un projet imaginé. Et enfin ils décrivent quelques configurations de l’identité narrative.
