Abstract:
La popular novela de Carlos Ruiz Zafón La sombra del viento contiene un gran número de oraciones que responden a un mismo patrón estructural: un elemento con el rasgo semántico [–animado] aparece al inicio de la oración y funciona como primer argumento de un proceso material (representado por un verbo) que en principio tiene que vincularse con elementos que tienen el rasgo semántico [+animado]. El modelo de transitividad que propuso M. A. K. Halliday sirve de guía metodológica a este artículo, que parte del planteamiento central de que, en la novela, la disposición de los componentes lingüísticos sea usada como un mecanismo estilístico. Así, el uso constante de la estructura adquiere tal importancia que acaba por revolucionar la dimensión estética de la realidad novelada en su totalidad. Una estructura que sitúa a determinados elementos léxicos en una posición de relevancia estilística y colabora en que esas estructuras puedan participar simultáneamente en más de un nivel de generación de significado. ; The bestseller novel by Carlos Ruiz Zafón The Shadow of the Wind contains a large number of sentences that respond to the same structural pat- tern: an element with the semantic feature [-animate] appears at the beginning of the sentence and functions as first argument of a material process (represented by a verb) which in principle should have to be related to items that have the semantic feature [+animate]. The model of transitivity proposed by M. A. K. Halliday will be used as the methodological guide to this article, which inspires the central idea that, in the novel, the organisation of linguistic components is used as a stylistic device. Being so, the structure becomes so important that it will eventually transform the aesthetic dimension of the fictional reality of the novel. These structures place certain lexical items in a position of stylistic relevance and let them participate simultaneously in more than one level of generation of meaning.
