Abstract:
Artificial Intelligence can do a lot to help us document and study minority and endangered languages! In this workshop, we will survey the methods available and will provide an interactive demo of forced speech alignment as a way to quickly study the phonetics of an undescribed language. We will introduce software such as FAVE-align, Praat and R to quickly extract phonetic information about your language and describe its vowels. ; 44886.mp3
