Abstract:
研究ノート ; This case study will recount a teacher's frustration in accommodating students of low motivation and a successful attempt to redesign the syllabus of a year-long course in progress to better meet their interests. Expecting that learning to use a computer might prove to be a motivating force toward productive English language study, the teacher decided to introduce instruction in basic computing skills, particularly transmitting e-mail, in the middle of the first semester. With a focus on classroom application, rather than technical aspects of CALL (computer-assisted language learning), this case study explores reasons for the students' low motivation, their educational interests and needs, the effect of CALL on elevating their level of motivation, and ways to help improve their writing skills through CALL. ; このケース・スタディは、モーティベーションの低い学生を、いかに、学生のニーズに合わせて、積極的に授業に参加させていったかを記したものである。電子メールと課題エッセイを中心に CALL (computer-assisted language learning) をコース途中から導入し、年間のシラバスを大幅に変更した。そして、学生のモーティベーションの低い原因、教育上の興味やニーズを分析し、CALL 導入後、彼らのモーティベーションがどう変わったか、また、書く能力はいかに向上したかを報告する。
