Nomina corporalia e incorporalia nella tradizione grammaticale latina
Zago, Anna. - : EUT Edizioni Università di Trieste, 2020
Abstract:
; In their chapters de nomine, usually placed at the beginning of De partibus orationis treatises, ancient Latin grammarians group nouns into nomina corporalia and nomina incorporalia . The former category includes names designating objects we see and touch, while the latter applies to objects we neither see nor touch. The aim of this paper is to provide a survey of ancient theorization on abstract and concrete nouns, with particular attention to Roman grammatical terminology. The paper takes into account the most important Latin grammarians (such as Quintilian, Donatus, Charisius and Priscian) as well as lesser authors and late-antique commentators.
