Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to provide an explicit formal account for the loan-word tone patterns of South Kyungsang Korean (SK), a dialect spoken in the south-eastern part of Korea. SK is a pitch accent language. The location of the pitch accent H tone is lexically determined. However, this paper will show that, unlike native words, SK loan words are subject to the H tone
