Abstract:
; The aim of this article is to analyze the features of Barcelona's Spanish at the end of the 19th century and the first decade of the 20th century using a collection of texts written by women and girls who write to each other or to relatives with whom they maintain a symmetric relationship. They are, therefore, private letters that reflect characteristics of communicative closeness. In this way, these texts bring us as close as possible to the language of the most intimate oral exchanges. This study will make it possible to advance in the knowledge of the characteristics of Spanish in general and of the Spanish spoken in Catalan-speaking lands at a time when Spanish in Barcelona was already emerging as a distinct variety.
