; This paper analyzes and compares four basic education curricula in the discipline of History about the subject of African Diaspora. By virtue of comprehending the impact of International Politics over national curricula, a phase of prospection culminated with the setting of a database of dozens of curricula. Stemming from concepts pertaining to the field of History Teaching, such as narrative wars (LAVILLE, 1999) and prescribed curriculum (BENITO, 2012), we resorted to concentrate upon the theme of African Diaspora Teaching and we selected the curricula of Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde and Portugal, based on the criteria of viability of access and cultural and linguistic identity. The colonial past experienced by these nations was understood as a fundamental towards creating such Diaspora’s identity tie. Therefore, we proceeded towards analyzing the Diaspora Teaching learning goals enunciated by the four curricula. The methodology employed in the study was documentary analysis in the field of Education with a discursive analytical grasp. The results we have reached indicate different pedagogical forms of handling the subject, as the following: informative traditional teaching; the compartmentalizing of black, white and indigenous peoples’ histories; lack of problematization; and critical and reflexive analysis. The findings have been discussed in light of curriculum studies and of studies about the African Diaspora.
