Descrição de acepções do verbo tomar em dicionários de língua portuguesa : um estudo metalexicográfico com base na teoria sentido-texto

Abstract:
O registro de itens lexicais polissêmicos em dicionários de língua portuguesa não ocorre de forma precisa e unificada. De fato, no âmbito da prática lexicográfica, o avizinhamento do fenômeno da polissemia com o fenômeno da homonímia tem ocasionado dificuldades para se determinar se uma palavra é polissêmica, isto é, possui muitos sentidos, mas deve receber apenas uma entrada nos dicionários; ou se se trata de itens homônimos, ou seja, diferentes palavras que apenas compartilham a mesma forma e devem figurar nos dicionários como entradas lexicais autônomas. É comum observar que os lexicógrafos adotam critérios heterogêneos e, por vezes, arbitrários, ao lematizar uma palavra que apresenta diversos sentidos: eles podem adotar (i) o critério etimológico (se houver apenas um étimo, haverá uma entrada; se houver étimos diferentes, teremos entradas diferentes), (ii) o critério semântico (procura-se apontar a existência de semas relacionados nas acepções de uma mesma palavra, tratando-se, assim, de item polissêmico; caso não haja semas comuns, determina-se a existência de homonímia), (iii) o critério morfológico (se a mesma palavra puder se realizar em distintas classes gramaticais, teremos entradas lexicais também distintas), e, até, (iv) um critério subjetivo, de acordo com o qual é o próprio conhecimento semântico do lexicógrafo que decidirá se a palavra é polissêmica ou homonímica. Considerando esse quadro, esta dissertação objetiva refletir sobre o registro lexicográfico de um verbo polissêmico, o verbo tomar, em oito dicionários on-line de língua portuguesa. Em especial, investiga-se como o verbo tomar está dicionarizado e como as acepções ditas polissêmicas desse verbo são elencadas dentro do verbete, a fim de matriciar as acepções apresentadas pelos dicionários e verificar se há contiguidade entre essas acepções (polissemia) ou se há distanciamento entre elas (homonímia). O alvo final é, a partir da descrição do esquema de regime e da combinatória lexical de 18 acepções do verbo tomar, realizar a modelização da combinatória sintática e da combinatória lexical – descrita por meio das funções lexicais – dos sentidos expressos nessas acepções. A metodologia adotada segue os preceitos da Teoria Sentido-Texto, teoria de cunho lexicográfico subjacente ao Modelo Sentido-Texto. Com base nessas opções, foi possível modelizar as relações lexicais de proximidade ou de distanciamento entre as 18 acepções do verbo examinadas. Como resultado dessa modelização, constatamos que muitos dos sentidos que o verbo tomar transmite são de fato polissêmicos, mas há outros que são homônimos. Nesta perspectiva, apresentamos duas propostas para o registro lexicográfico de tomar: uma “sugestão polissêmica”, em que se propõe a reorganização das acepções do verbo a partir da proximidade de sentidos (listadas na parte inicial do verbete) e do distanciamento de sentidos, registradas na parte final do verbete; e uma “sugestão homonímica”, segundo a qual o verbo tomar deve ter cinco entradas lexicais na nomenclatura de um dicionário de língua portuguesa; na primeira entrada devem constar as acepções que apresentam proximidade de sentidos, e nas quatro outras entradas devem estar agrupados os sentidos que não apresentam vinculação entre si. ; The addition of polysemic lexical items in language dictionaries does not have a precise and unified method. In fact, in the scope of lexicographic practice, the approximation of the polysemy phenomenon with the homonymy phenomenon has caused difficulties in determining if a word is polysemic, which means it has many meanings, but should receive only one entry in the dictionaries; or if there are homonymous items, that is different words that only share the same form and must, therefore, and should appear in the dictionaries as autonomous lexical entries. It is common to observe that lexicographers adopt heterogeneous and sometimes arbitrary criteria, by labeling a form of word that has several meanings: they can adopt (i) the etymological criterion (if there is a word root, there will be an entry, if there are different word roots, different entries), (ii) the semantic criterion (the existence of related semes in the meanings of the same word form, being, thus, a polysemic item, and if there are no common semes, the existence of homonymy is determined), (iii) the morphological criterion (if the same word can be performed in different grammatical classes we will also have different lexical entries); and even (iv) a subjective criterion, in which it is the lexicographer’s own semantic perception that will determine if a word form is polysemic or homonymous. Considering this framework, this work aims at reflecting about a polysemic verb, the tomar verb, inserted in eight online Portuguese dictionaries. Specifically, this thesis aims at reflecting on how the polysemic tomar verb has been inserted on dictionaries, how the polysemic meanings of the verb have been listed within the entry, in order to understand the meanings of the dictionaries and to verify the existence of proximity between these meanings (polysemy) or distance between them (homonymy). The final aim is from the description of the regime scheme and the lexical combinatorial of the 18 meanings of the verb tomar, to perform the modeling of the syntactical combinatorial and the lexical combinatorial - described by means of the lexical functions - of the meanings of the verb. The adopted methodology, thus, follows the precepts of the Meaning-Text Theory, lexicographic theory, underlying the Model Meaning-Text. Based on these options, it was possible to model the lexical relations of proximity or distance between the 18 meanings of the tomar verb. As a result of this modeling, we verified that many of the meanings that the verb tomar has are actually polysemous, but there are meanings that are homonyms. In this perspective, we suggest two possibilities for the lexicographic record of the verb tomar: a "polysemic suggestion", which proposes the reorganization of the meanings of the verb from the proximity of senses (listed in the initial part of the lexical entry) and the distance of senses, listed in the final part of the lexical entry; and a "homonymic suggestion", according to the fact that the verb tomar must have more than one lexical entry in the nomenclature of a dictionary of Portuguese language; in this recommendation, one lexical entry prioritizes the meanings that have proximity of meanings and other lexical entries will register the meanings that are not related to one another.
