Bücher gegen das Vergessen

Abstract:
; This thesis examines certain autobiographical works of the Carinthian Slovenian minority that have been published by the small bilingual publishing company Drava as part of a series labelled “Books against Forgetting“ (Bücher gegen das Vergessen), in the context of theoretical considerations of the “Holocaust Autobiography”. Holocaust Literature is considered a unique genre, which based on the term “Holocaust” as a collective name for the National-Socialist policy of repression and elimination of all groups of victims, describes texts which examine one or more aspects or groups of victims of the Holocaust. (Feuchert: 2000, 15) The series “Books against Forgetting” creates a multi-faceted view on the various tragedies of Carinthian Slovenians during Wold War II and the socio-political development. Therefore, the Holocaust can not only be seen as the point of departure, but also as the central content of the works in question.
