Abstract:
Relief prints; Planographic prints--lithographs ; The covers of the book are color lithographs. The interior of the book is illustrated with uncolored relief prints. This is a version of Aesop's Fables in Words of One Syllable. The entire text is written using only words with one syllable. Printed on title page: By Mary Godolphin This page depicts "The Dog who went out to sup." In the story, the dog sneaks into a kitchen but is discovered by the cook and tossed out at the back door. ; Lucy Aikin was interested in early childhood education and published several readers to assist in teaching. Lucy Aikin also worked under the pseudonym Mary Godolphin when she produced several works in the series "In the words of one syllable". She was the niece of Mrs (Anna Letitia) Barbauld who was also an author and an early critic of the education system. ; Fables;
