Abstract:
Sebastian ZIEGAUS interessiert sich in seiner Dissertation für die kommunikative Herstellung der wissenschaftlichen Praxis im Zusammenspiel von Forschenden und technischen Medien. Durch neue Vernetzungstechnologien wie Datenbanken und das Internet entstehen neue Interaktionen in Forschungssystemen, was, so ZIEGAUS, methodisch jedoch meist nicht ausreichend reflektiert werde. Anhand eines kommunikationstheoretischen Modells untersucht er die Selbstbeschreibung sozialwissenschaftlicher Theorien und Methoden. Darüber hinaus will er nicht weniger leisten als eine Neubestimmung der Selbstbeschreibung der Sozialwissenschaften als "kommunikative Sozialforschung". Er schreibt dabei nicht aus der Position eines Sozialwissenschaftlers, sondern als historisch und theoretisch interessierter Medien- und Kommunikationswissenschaftler. Daraus resultieren aus einer soziologischen Perspektive gleichsam Stärken und Schwächen des hier besprochenen Bandes. So bietet ZIEGAUS im empirischen Teil eine kreative Untersuchung des erkenntnistheoretischen Zugangs sozialwissenschaftlicher Schulenbildung an und deutet diese als Form des Komplexitätsmanagements. Die normative Forderung nach der Durchsetzung einer kommunikativen Sozialforschung und deren emphatische Einforderung sind hingegen weniger überzeugend und schließen nicht an die empirischen Ergebnisse der durchgeführten Untersuchung an. ; In this study Sebastian ZIEGAUS analyzes the communicative construction of scientific practice. With developments in new media and the internet, new means of interaction in research systems evolve. ZIEGAUS's interest lies in the interaction between researcher and research object. He points to a lack of methodological reflection regarding interactional and medial effects in the social sciences. He thus argues that the self-description of social sciences must change through the implementation of the ideal of "communicative social research." ZIEGAUS does not adopt the perspective of a social researcher, but that of a theoretically interested communication scientist—giving rise to both the merits and shortcomings of the book. The empirical part of the study includes a creative exploration of the epistemological foundations of various social theories and their handling of complexity. However, his call for the social sciences to unite under the flag of "communicative social research" is somewhat unconvincing, and fails to tie in satisfactorily with the empirical findings. ; Sebastian ZIEGAUS analiza en este estudio la construcción comunicativa de la práctica científica. Con los desarrollos en nuevos medios de comunicación y el Internet, evolucionan nuevos medios de interacción en sistemas de investigación. EL interés de ZIEGAUS radica en la interacción entre el investigador y su objeto de estudio. Destaca la falta de reflexión metodológica respecto a los efectos interacciónales y mediáticos en las ciencias sociales. Sostiene que la propia descripción de ciencias sociales debe cambiar mediante la implementación del ideal de "investigación social comunicativa". ZIEGAUS no adopta la perspectiva de un investigador social, sino la de un científico de la comunicación teóricamente interesado – lo que origina tanto los meritos como las deficiencias del libro. La parte empírica del estudio incluye una exploración creativa de los fundamentos epistemológicos de diversas teorías sociales y su manejo de la complejidad. Sin embargo, su invitación a las ciencias sociales para unirse bajo la bandera de “investigación social comunicativa” es de alguna forma inconvincente y fracasa en unirse satisfactoriamente con los descubrimientos empíricos.
