Abstract:
The article analyses the part of scientific research in the higher school education. Scientific research is regarded as an imperative component of a XXI century specialist professional training. The department of translators and interpreters is cited as an example to show how theoretical courses and scientific research in a combination with practical disciplines make it possible for students, alongside acquiring stable abilities and skills of merely linguistic character, to gain a great amount of various information, ensuring the background knowledge essential for an adequate translation. Coordinated activities of all subjects of scientific research are meant to develop a whole lot of professional and personal competences. Of paramount importance is developing a constant need for acquiring new knowledge, abilities, skills, for developing new competences, that is willingness for a life-long learning.
