Abstract:
Como agua para chocolate (1989), by Mexican author Laura Esquivel, a clear example of women’s literature, emerged as a response to the masculine domination, not only in Mexico and Latin Amer-ica, but throughout the world. Because of the importance that this work received worldwide, it was translated into more than thirty languages, including the Arabic language. Two translations were made, the first one was by Nadia Gamal Eddin Mohammad (2000) and the other by Saleh Almani (2014). In this article, a comparison is made between the two translations, based on feminist trans-lation strategies, especially those related to paratextual elements (title, cover, preface, footnotes), in addition to other general translation techniques. It is concluded that the translation carried out by the female translator allows the female voice to be better transmitted than the translation made by the male translator ; Como agua para chocolate (1989), de la autora mexicana Laura Esquivel, es una clara muestra de la literatura femenina, surgida como respuesta al dominio machista no solo en México y América Latina, sino también en todo el mundo.
