	Abstract: Forschung mit Teilnehmer(inne)n, die über andere muttersprachliche Kompetenzen verfügen als die im jeweiligen Forschungsprojekt dominanten, erfordert in der Regel die Zusammenarbeit mit Interpret(inn)en und Übersetzer(inne)n, die deren Sprachen beherrschen. Diese führen Interviews durch und erstellen dann Texte in anderen als den Herkunftssprachen der Forschungsteilnehmer(innen). Dennoch werden die Ergebnisse solcher mehrsprachigen Forschungen meist präsentiert, als handele es sich um eine Analyse von Primärdaten. Wir versuchen dementgegen zu zeigen, dass in dieser Weise mehrsprachig erhobene Daten in vieler Hinsicht Ähnlichkeiten mit Sekundäranalysen aufweisen, denn Fragen nach der Bedeutung des Kontextes, in dem die Daten generiert wurden, sind zentral für mehrsprachige Forschung im Besonderen und für Sekundäranalysen im Allgemeinen. Wir veranschaulichen unsere Position an einem Forschungsprojekt, das sich mit den Erfahrungen von Personen befasst, die kaum Englisch sprachen und Übersetzer(innen) brauchten, um Gesundheits-, Erziehungs-, Sozial- oder andere Dienste in Anspruch zu nehmen, und diskutieren an diesem Beispiel, wie wir mit dem Problem des Kontextes umgegangen sind, wenn Daten von Dritten in Sprachen erhoben wurden, derer wir nicht mächtig sind. ; Research with people who are not fluent in the dominant language of the research endeavour often involves working with interpreters/ translators or researchers who can speak the relevant minority languages. They conduct the interviews and provide the written data used for analysis in a language other than the original. However, this kind of cross language research is often presented as if it is the analysis of primary data rather than the re-construction of it. We argue that analysis of cross language data shows some strong similarities with secondary data analysis. Questions about the relevance of the context in which data are produced are central to both cross language research and secondary qualitative data analysis. We illustrate our arguments using a research project that examined user views of interpreters and discuss how we dealt with the issue of context in analysing data that were collected by others and produced in languages we did not speak. ; La investigación con personas que no tienen fluidez en el lenguaje predominante de la empresa de investigar frecuentemente implica trabajar con intérpretes/traductores o investigadores que pueden hablar las relevantes lenguas de las minorías. Ellos conducen las entrevistas y proporcionan los datos escritos que se usan para el análisis en un idioma diferente al original. Sin embargo, este tipo de cruce entre idiomas en la investigación se presenta frecuentemente como si fuera un análisis de datos primarios en lugar de presentarlo como una re-construcción de los datos. Nosotros afirmamos que el análisis que hace uso de la traducción de un idioma a otro muestra algunas fuertes similitudes con el análisis secundario de datos. En general, las preguntas acerca de la relevancia del contexto en el que los datos se producen son centrales tanto para la investigación con datos en un idioma diferente y el analisis cualitativo secundario de datos. Ilustramos nuestro argumento por medio de un proyecto de investigación que examinó las perspectivas de los usuarios acerca de los intérpretes (comprensiones de las personas que hablan poco Inglés y necesitan intérpretes a fín de poder acceder a los servicios de salud, legales, sociales, educación y otros servicios) y discutimos la forma en que abordamos el contexto para analizar los datos que fueron recolectados por otros y producidos en idiomas que nosotros nos hablamos.
