Although there are already linguistic studies that seek to present other aspects of this lexical class, including its textual function, for example, most are limited to describing it in its morphological, syntactic and/or semantic aspects. Therefore, this Dissertation aims to analyze the use of the adjective as an argumentative support in textual genres in the virtual environment of web, seeking to show the influence of this class in the argumentative construction of the text. The theoretical bases come from North American Functional Linguistics (GIVÓN, 1995; BYBEE, 2010, among others), adding to these studies on argumentation (GRÁCIO, 2010; FIORIN, 2014), face and politeness (GOFFMAN, 1980), the concept of the orality and scriptural continuum (KOCH; OESTEREICHER, 2013), since some genres are closer to orality, although they are in graphic form, in addition to specific studies on the adjective (SILVA; PRIA, 2001; SILVA, 2019 and others). Regarding the methodological procedures, this work is qualitative-interpretative with quantitative support, with the purpose of verifying the frequency of use, regularities and tendencies in the realization of the argumentative adjective within the analyzed environment. The corpus consists of opinionated texts, in written form, taken from the internet, with 6 (six) genres selected: post, complaint, reader's comment, film review, editorial and advertisement. With this study, we seek to cover a plurality of uses of the adjective, which has not yet been analyzed in this context, which can also contribute to the teaching of this linguistic category. ; O adjetivo tem sido tradicionalmente visto como adjunto adnominal, modificando o conteúdo de um substantivo, ou como predicativo, incidindo sobre o sujeito ou sobre o objeto da oração. Embora já existam estudos linguísticos que busquem apresentar outros aspectos dessa classe lexical, entre estes, sua função textual, por exemplo, a maioria limita-se a descrevê-la em seus aspectos morfológicos, sintáticos e/ou semânticos. Diante disso, esta Dissertação tem por objetivo geral analisar o uso do adjetivo como suporte argumentativo em gêneros textuais do ambiente virtual da web, buscando mostrar a influência dessa classe na construção argumentativa do texto. O aporte teórico baseia-se na Linguística Funcional norte-americana (GIVÓN, 1995; BYBEE, 2010, entre outros), adicionando-se a essa estudos sobre argumentação (GRÁCIO, 2010; FIORIN, 2014), face e polidez (GOFFMAN, 1980), o conceito do continuum oralidade e escrituralidade (KOCH; OESTEREICHER, 2013), uma vez que alguns gêneros se apresentam mais próximos da oralidade, embora estejam na forma gráfica, além de estudos específicos sobre o adjetivo (SILVA; PRIA, 2001; SILVA, 2019 e outros). No tocante aos procedimentos metodológicos, este trabalho é de caráter qualitativo-interpretativo com suporte quantitativo, com a finalidade de verificar frequência de uso, regularidades e tendências da realização do adjetivo argumentativo dentro do ambiente analisado. O corpus é formado por textos opinativos, na modalidade escrita, retirados da internet, tendo sido selecionados 6 (seis) gêneros: post, reclamação, comentário do leitor, crítica de filmes, editorial e anúncio. Com este estudo, busca-se abranger certa pluralidade de usos do adjetivo, ainda não analisado nesse contexto, o que pode contribuir também para o ensino dessa categoria linguística.
