	Abstract: International audience ; Starting from the work already done on the increasing tension of verbal violence in its production phase (works by Auger, Fracchiolla, Moïse and Romain, 2008, 2013 in particular), insult will be studied as short genre through the characteristics of its syntactic, conversational, interactional, pragmatic forms. We will see in particular the implicit obligation and the structural essentialization that characterize insults, linked to a brevity that goes hand in hand with the pragmatic obligation in which we find ourselves wanting to render them, from an illocutionary point of view., quickly identifiable. The insult is thus often all the more effective because it is monolexical and thus brief and direct. This fact leads us to question from a syntactic point of view the opposition between the character often felt as all the more aggressive, the impolite acts of language as they are direct, compared to the virtues of politeness and propriety that we generally associate a contrario with the acts of the most indirect languages. ; En partant des travaux déjà réalisés sur la montée en tension de la violence verbale dans sa phase de production (travaux de Auger, Fracchiolla, Moïse et Romain, 2008 ; 2013 en particulier), l’insulte et l’injure seront étudiées en tant que genres brefs à travers les caractéristiques de leurs formes syntaxiques, conversationnelles, interactionnelles, pragmatiques. On verra en particulier l’obligation d’implicite et l’essentialisation structurelle qui les caractérisent, en lien avec une brièveté qui va de pair avec l’obligation pragmatique dans laquelle on se trouve de vouloir les rendre, d’un point de vue illocutoire, rapidement identifiables. L’insulte est ainsi souvent d’autant plus efficace qu’elle est monolexicale et donc brève et directe. Ce fait conduit à interroger d’un point de vue syntaxique l’opposition entre le caractère souvent ressenti comme d’autant plus agressif, impoli des actes de langages dès lors qu’ils sont directs, par comparaison aux vertus de politesse et de bienséance que l’on associe généralement a contrario aux actes de langages les plus indirects.
