Abstract:
; This contribution examines the behavior of a subclass of discourse markers, the reformulation indicators, in a specific language contact situation, the Val di Fassa (Trentino Alto-Adige), where speakers have at their disposal a bilingual repertoire Italian-Ladin. The study of discourse markers in the bilingual conversation allows, due to the strategies employed by speakers in these contexts, to examine at length the peculiar characteristics; reformulation signals are in this respect of particular interest, since they are used in a wider range of functions than the monolingual contexts, even concerning the language change. The aim of the paper is to determine which language speakers make use of these signals, and whether there might be any differences within the class itself.
