It begins with an extensive review of a previous survey of CGSC student writers which was analyzed in terms of total population and ability sub-groups as established by a diagnostic examination of writing ability. These results were then compared to results from a similar survey of the 1974-75 CGSC class which was analyzed without the aid of a diagnostic test. The new portion of the paper extends the scope of research from the writer level to that of the supervisor. Students at the Army War College were surveyed to determine their perceptions of the pressures at work in Army writing situations. These perceptions are compared to the current CGSC class in order to determine points of commonality and, more important, areas of disagreement. The author concludes that, although the previous CGSC work is valid when total population is considered, important variations exist within the ability sub-groups. He finds, further, that there are significant differences of opinion between War College and CGSC students concerning the dynamics of Army writing. ; Master's thesis.
