Abstract:
International audience ; Based on G. Kahn's overview of a long history of the diffusion of French in "specialized" situations, the aim is to extend the reflection with some elements of a more contemporary history of ideas on the research developed on this question. In particular, I am interested in the ways in which certain notions have more particularly marked out this sector, such as those of "needs" and "publics," in order to reinforce a policy and a dynamic of supply inscribed in a functional orientation bordering on utilitarianism. This analysis aims to insist on the importance of placing recent research in a historical perspective that contributes to densifying and clarifying its meaning. ; En prolongement au panorama effectué par G. Kahn d’une histoire longue s’intéressant à la diffusion du français dans des situations « spécialisées », il s’agit de continuer la réflexion par quelques éléments d’une histoire des idées plus contemporaine, au sein des recherches développées sur cette question. Je m’intéresse notamment aux manières dont certaines notions ont plus particulièrement balisé ce secteur, comme celles de « besoins » et de « publics », pour renforcer une politique et une dynamique de l’offre inscrite dans une orientation fonctionnelle confinant à l’utilitarisme. Cette analyse vise à insister sur l’intérêt de resituer les recherches récentes dans une perspective historique qui contribue à en densifier et à en éclairer le sens.
