Abstract:
International audience ; Reviewed paper from an international conference, held at the University of Verona on 30- 31 May, 2013 : "Paul Bacot’s « Mots de la politique et mots de la science politique » is a critical assessment of the lack of a specific political vocabulary. Political science, in particular, is criticised due to its reliance on either general terminology or the jargon adopted by other disciplines. More specifically, political science is accused of employing a language that is unscientific as far as it appears metaphorical, polysemous and rich in connotations. The presence of lexical borrowings, especially from English, is seen by the author as yet another obstacle to scientific objectivity. French political science is taken as a case in point for the analysis. "
