Discutindo estereótipos étnico-raciais em aulas de PLE: a abordagem (ou a falta dela) sobre o racismo no Brasil e a CCI como alternativa possível

Abstract:
Aprender uma nova língua é como descobrir um mundo novo, uma vez que não é possível desconectar língua e cultura. Neste processo de aprendizagem, questões específicas como história das minorias, migração e colonialismo são muitas vezes abordadas de maneira equivocada. Este trabalho apresenta um quadro geral sobre a abordagem racial no Brasil em aulas de PLE e a problemática da reprodução de estereótipos do imaginário brasileiro. O foco sobre cai-se na análise de livros didáticos de PLE como “Bem-vindo!” “Fale Português” e “Avenida Brasil”. Ao mesmo tempo evidencia a importância de uma perspectiva inclusiva nos materiais didáticos. Mostra a Competência comunicativa intercultural como alternativa possível para a inserção dessa temática essencial na discussão da cultura brasileira, além de frear a reprodução de preconceitos e estereótipos raciais. Para além do tema supracitado acima, contribuir para uma melhor formação de professores de português língua estrangeira, em relação ao entendimento da dinâmica em relação as questões étnico-raciais no português brasileiro. Apresentar pontos de condução para os docentes acerca da temática racial, por consequência, uma prática dos professores e aprendentes da língua mais sensibilizada para esta dimensão cultural. ; It’s impossible to learn a new language and discover a new world without first understanding it’s culture. During the learning process, if students have specific questions about the history of minorities, immigration, and colonialism in Brazil, one should approach these subjects in an unbiased manner. The following texts, typically used to teach students learning Portuguese as a foreign language, contain only a superficial idea of race in Brazil. The problematic portrayal of Brazilian racial stereotypes within these texts will be addressed In order to widen Portuguese teachers’ cultural understanding of Brazil. As a result, students will gain a more enlightened and balanced perspective of Brazilian race and culture, while maintaining focus on improving their Portuguese language skills. The focus of the following research lies in the analysis of educational textbooks for Portuguese as a foreign language learner, including “Bem-vindo!”, “Fale Português” and “Avenida Brasil”. After analyzing the above texts, evidence will be provided that speaks to the importance of an inclusive perspective in educational textbooks. In this sense, intercultural communicative competence will be demonstrated through the proposal of alternatives for inserting this essential theme of Brazilian culture into the language-learning classroom. Above all, the hope is that the continuing cycle of prejudice and racial stereotypes will be broken, resulting in a fair and balanced approach to culture. Beyond the aforementioned points, the aim is to contribute to better training of Portuguese as a foreign language teacher, in relation to understanding the dynamics of ethnic and racial issues within the context of Brazilian Portuguese learning. The subsequent research will present points to help navigate language teachers through cultural themes with their students. The result will be a methodology for teachers of language learners who are more aware of cultural dimensions within language learning. As a language teacher, you are not only teaching language. You must teach language within the context of culture, and be careful not to promote racial stereotypes. Portuguese language teachers must present culture in a non-biased manner, placing equal weight on every aspect of Brazil’s heritage. But in order to do this, we must first consider how we perceive race and if we personally hold preconceptions of race. Like it or not, discriminatory sentiments can slip out (even unconsciously), if we teachers aren’t mindful and self-aware.
