Abstract:
International audience ; The TermiCo project corresponds to the model of a data bank recommended by Durieux (1988) for providing standardised terminological records. Insofar as it was designed to provide an efficient terminographical tool for translators that would decompartementalise specialist domains, and partly fulfill Bordet’s expectations (2013: 95). Moreover, some of its features would seem to tackle certain weaknesses that Gariépy (2013: 71, 98) mentioned about collaborative terminography.A terminological database was built and completed from intensive translation sessions that were carried out by students of partner universities within the framework of the Erasmus + OTCT project (http://www.otct-project.eu). It seemed natural then to suggest an online database.To give it an even wider scope, it was decided to make it dynamic and collaborative rather than static. Given the relativity of terminological concepts and terms – that any translator can test, as Cabré (1998 : 83) pointed out – this tool was designed to offer as much traceability as possible for all operations.We will explain in detail why we chose this approach, how the application software was designed, developed, tested and validated – validation still in progress –, how it can now be used as a pedagogical tool. We will also show its mid-term use for professionals as well as the longer term technological evolutions that are envisaged. ; Le projet TermiCo s’inscrit dans la droite ligne de l’idéal de banque de données fournissant des fiches terminologiques multilingues normalisées préconisé par Durieux (1988 : 164). Il tente également d’offrir un outil terminographique efficace pour la traduction qui permet de décloisonner les domaines de spécialité, répondant ainsi en partie aux attentes de Bordet (2013 : 95), et semble en outre de nature à répondre par ses fonctionnalités à certaines faiblesses de la terminographie collaborative relevées par Gariépy (2013 : 71, 98).Dans le cadre du projet Erasmus + OTCT (http://www.otct-project.eu) était attendue une base de données terminologique des projets intensifs de traduction menés à bien par les étudiants des différentes universités partenaires. Nous avons donc proposé une base de données en ligne que nous avons ensuite fait évoluer afin de la rendre ergonomique, dynamique et collaborative plutôt que statique. Le constat – que tout traducteur peut faire si souvent dans sa pratique professionnelle, comme l’avait noté Cabré (1998 : 83) – de la relativité des concepts et des désignations terminologiques nous a amenés en outre à concevoir un outil qui permette une traçabilité maximale des opérations effectuées et qui garantisse la fiabilité des informations qu’il contient.Nous expliquerons en détail pourquoi cette orientation a été choisie, quel a été le travail de conception, d’élaboration, de tests et de validation (encore en cours), quelles sont les applications pédagogiques immédiates, ainsi que les applications professionnelles envisagées à moyen terme. Nous montrerons enfin quelles sont les évolutions technologiques qui sont envisagées à plus long terme.
