Abstract:
International audience ; The publication of the Democrat corpus opens up new perspectives for the study of reference and chains of reference in texts written in French, from medieval French to contemporary French. With its 198,000 annotated referring expressions, grouped in 20,000 reference chains, linguists now have access to attested data, in order to verify their hypotheses, calculate statistics, or simply illustrate their work. We present the theoretical and practical framework that led to the development of this corpus. We define the concepts involved, and show how the Democrat corpus constitutes a reliable and useful linguistic resource that can be exploited in many ways, from the search for examples, to natural language processing and machine learning applications. ; La parution du corpus Democrat ouvre de nouvelles perspectives pour l’étude de la référence et des chaînes de référence dans des textes écrits en français, depuis le français médiéval jusqu’au français contemporain. Avec ses 198 000 expressions référentielles annotées, regroupées dans 20 000 chaînes de référence, les linguistes disposent désormais de données attestées pour vérifier leurs hypothèses, calculer des statistiques, ou tout simplement illustrer leurs travaux. Nous présentons le cadre théorique et pratique qui a conduit à l’élaboration de ce corpus. Nous définissons les notions concernées, et nous montrons en quoi le corpus Democrat constitue une ressource linguistique fiable, utile et autorisant de nombreuses exploitations, depuis la recherche d’exemples jusqu’au traitement automatique des langues et l’apprentissage artificiel.
