Abstract:
National audience ; En situation écologique, le langage parlé est bruité par des sons environnementaux, comme une discussion voisine ou encore les bruits de la rue. Nos recherches visent à explorer les processus impliqués dans cette situation de compréhension de parole bruitée (effet cocktail party). Il a été montré quil est plus facile de reconnaître un mot lorsque celui-ci est présenté dans du bruit non linguistique plutôt que dans un signal de parole concurrent. Cet effet, tout en étant très clair, na pas encore été expliqué. Il reste à établir la nature de linterférence observée dans la situation de compréhension de la parole : linguistique ou purement acoustique. Dans la série dexpériences présentée nous avons créé des cocktails de parole dans différentes langues du monde : en français, breton, gaélique irlandais, grec et italien. Ces langues ont été choisies pour leur distance avec le français et selon différentes dimensions linguistiques comme leurs caractéristiques rythmiques ou leur inventaire phonologique. Les cocktails étaient composés de 2 ou 4 locuteurs et les participants devaient identifier un mot français inséré dans le cocktail à un rapport du signal au bruit de 0 dB ou de -5 dB. Les résultats montrent clairement quil est plus difficile didentifier un mot français présenté dans un cocktail français que dans un cocktail dune autre langue ; ce qui suggère que leffet observé nest pas purement acoustique mais bien linguistique. Les résultats obtenus pour les autres langues montrent également des différences de performances en fonction des langues utilisées, ce qui suggère que certaines langues interfèrent plus avec le français que dautres. Une analyse globale nous amènera à discuter des rôles de trois caractéristiques linguistiques que sont le rythme, laccentuation et la phonologie dans les processus de ségrégation et de compétition entre les différents signaux de parole.
