Communication Sampling Procedures

Abstract: After reading this chapter, students will be able to Describe the importance, purpose and aims of communication sampling, Provide strategies for sampling nonverbal communication, language, and speech, Provide tools for analyzing communication samples, and Provide introductory information for interpreting language sample analysis results. The use of communication sample analysis in the evaluation of children's speech-language abilities has seen much recent attention in the literature and has become recommended practice in clinical contexts, especially for culturally diverse populations, such as speakers of non mainstream dialects and English language learners.
