Abstract:
Teacher Stories: Perspectives on Inclusive Pedagogical Language in Zimbabwe, by Kumbirrai Ai Khosa, is a much-needed examination of language education policies that are currently prevalent in many countries where colonial languages are deeply rooted and entangled in society. Moreover, this type of language educational policy research is particularly informative where African languages such as Shona, Ndebele, and other minoritized languages are used in everyday interactions, yet are frequently considered less prestigious than English. Often, the consequences of this colonial legacy fail speakers of these languages by denying them access to public education. But this text asks us to consider what happens when a country deliberately attempts to honor its multilingual nature and address their special needs populations.
