Abstract:
Große Teile der Wojewodschaft Oppeln sind durch einen hohen Anteil der deutschen Minderheiten an der Gesamtbevölkerung gekennzeichnet. Es handelt sich dabei um Bevölkerungsgruppen, die bis heute eine eigene kulturelle Identität beibehalten haben. Auf der Grundlage von Daten zu nationalen und ethnischen Struktur der Bevölkerung, Daten zur politischen Legitimation der Bevölkerung sowie zur räumlichen Verteilung von Kennzeichen der deutschen Kultur kann in dieser Wojewodschaft der Verlauf einer Kulturgrenze dargestellt werden. Datenquellen waren die Ergebnisse der Volkszählung 2002 (die erste Zählung mit Angaben zur Nationalität), Schätzungen zur autochthonen Bevölkerung 1977 sowie Daten der Parlamentswahl 2001. Als Kennzeichen der deutschen Kultur wurden die Denkmale für deutsche Soldaten, die im 1. und 2. Weltkrieg gefallen sind, herangezogen. Diese sind relativ gleichmäßig im mittleren und östlichen Teil der Wojewodschaft, vor allem in den dörflichen Gebieten, verteilt. Die Errichtung, Restauration und Pflege dieser Denkmale weist auf das Vorhandensein einer Bevölkerungsgruppe mit einem nichtpolnischen nationalen Gedächtnis und mit einer anderen Identität hin. Im Rahmen der Feldforschungen zwischen 2002 und 2005 wurden ca. 75 % des Territoriums der Wojewodschaft Oppeln erfasst und 281 deutsche Denkmale lokalisiert. Frühere Untersuchungen aus den Jahren 1996 bis 1998 bestätigten die Forschungsergebnisse. Diese zeigen, dass die gegenwärtige kulturelle Grenze sehr stark die ethnische (Sprach-) Grenze zwischen der deutschen und polnischen Bevölkerung im Jahr 1910 widerspiegelt. Beide Grenzen sind im Gebiet der Wojewodschaft Oppeln weitestgehend konvergent – mit einem gewissen Grenzbereich. ; Major portions of the voivodship Oppeln (Polish administrative district) have large German minorities in the overall population. These are population groups that have retained their own cultural identity to the present day. This voivodship can be used to delineate the course of a cultural border based on data of the population’s national and ethnic structure, data of the population’s political legitimation and the spatial distribution of hallmarks of German culture. The sources of data were the findings of the 2002 census (the first census with information on nationality), assessments of the autochthonous population in 1977 and data from the parliamentary elections in 2001. The monuments for German soldiers who died in the First and Second World Wars were used as hallmarks of German culture. They are relatively even in the central and eastern portion of the voivodship, particularly in the village areas. The fact that these monuments were erected, restored and maintained indicates the existence of a population group with a non-Polish national memory and a different identity. The field research carried out between 2002 and 2005 recorded 75 % of the territory of the voivodship Oppeln and localised 281 German monuments. Earlier studies from 1996-1998 confirmed the research findings. They reveal that the present cultural border very clearly reflects the ethnic (i.e., linguistic) border between the German and Polish population in 1910. Both borders are mostly convergent on the territory of the voivodship Oppeln – with a certain border area.
