Abstract:
Los mecanismos lingüísticos que expresan sentimientos y emociones poseen unos contornos semánticos difusos que, aunque pueden incluirse en categorías semánticas universales, no siempre tienen una correspondencia sencilla en otras lenguas. En/neste trabajo presentamos un análisis contrastivo del campo semántico del enojo en la novela francesa contemporánea/nL’Élégance du hérisson (2006), de Muriel Barbery, y sus/ntraducciones castellana (2007), catalana (2007) e inglesa (2010). El estudio, que se sitúa en la línea de trabajos anteriores de la autora pero amplía la perspectiva incluyendo el francés como lengua origen, tiene por objetivo describir las soluciones traductoras que se/nhan aplicado en las versiones para determinar si se han producido divergencias de punto de vista e intensidad semántica, motivadas por la subjetividad del traductor. Finalmente, se analizan las posibles consecuencias que estas divergencias podrían implicar para los/nlectores de las traducciones. ; Linguistic mechanisms expressing emotions and feelings have fuzzy semantic borders which, although they can be included in universal semantic categories, do not always have an easy correspondence in different languages. In this paper we present a contrastive analysis of some terms belonging to the semantic field of anger in a French/ncontemporary novel: Muriel Barbery’s L’Élégance du hérisson (2006) and its Spanish (2007),Catalan (2007) and English (2010) versions. Although the paper follows earlier research by the author, the study broadens the scope of the analysis to include French as a source language. The main aim of the contrastive analysis is to describe the translation techniques applied in these versions to determine if the translator’s subjectivity is responsible for the shifts in the point of view and the semantic intensity expressed in the target texts. Finally, we draw the possible consequences of these shifts to the target readers.
