Abstract: Manuscripts and extended reports cover the following topics: Auditory and phonetic processes in speech perception--evidence from a dichotic study; An auditory analogue of the Sperling partial report procedure--evidence for brief auditory storage; Stimulus versus response competition and ear asymmetry in dichotic listening; The effect of temporal overlap on the perception of dichotically and monotically presented CV syllables; Auditory evoked potentials during speech perception; Basic research in speech and lateralization of language--some implications for reading disability; The EMG data system; Electromyography of the articulatory muscles--current instrumentation and technique; Action of the extrinsic musculature in the control of tongue position; Electromyography of the intrinsic laryngeal muscles during phonation; An electromyographic study of laryngeal adjustments during speech articulation; The velopharyngeal mechanism--an electromyographic study; An electromyographic investigation of the tense-lax feature in some English vowels; Vocal tract size normalization in the perception of stop consonants; Vowel duration as a cue to the perceptual separation of cognate sounds in American English.
