Abstract: Nello sviluppo della competenza emotiva assumono una funzione rilevante il riconoscimento delle espressioni emotive e la denominazione lessicale delle emozioni stesse. Al fine di verificare l’accuratezza di tale riconoscimento e lo sviluppo della semantica emotiva, si è proceduto a indagare presso un gruppo di 99 bambini in età prescolastica (3-5 anni) la capacità di comprendere e di denominare le espressioni sia di emozioni fondamentali (gioia, tristezza, collera, paura) sia di emozioni complesse (disprezzo, tenerezza) facendo ricorso a tre tipi di stimoli (script emotivo, figura intera isolata, volto stereotipato) esplorati attraverso domande aperte. Le risposte sono state classificate secondo tre livelli di accuratezza semantica: denominazione focale, generalizzata e metonimica. I dati pongono in evidenza non soltanto un incremento monotonico della semantica emotiva in funzione dell’età, ma anche della natura dello stimolo (lo script ottiene risultati superiori a quelli osservati con la figura intera e con il volto). Parimenti le espressioni della gioia, della collera e della tristezza sono quelle più riconosciute. Sono stati inoltre esaminati gli errori di denominazione lessicale e la matrice delle confusioni. I risultati sono stati interpretati secondo la ; Recognition and labelling of emotional expressions play an important role in the development of emotional competence. The aim of the present study is to investigate the accuracy of emotional recognition and the emotional semantic development. Ninety-nine preschoolaged children were asked to understand and labeling emotional expressions of both basic (joy, sadness, anger and fear) and complex emotions (contempt and tenderness) on the basis of three different stimula: contextual cues (script), body expressions and facial expressions. Children’s responses were coded according to three levels of semantic accuracy: focal, generalized and metonimic recognition. Data from the present study point out a monotonic improvement of emotional semantics as a function of the subject’s age and of the type of stimulus (scripts were judged correct1y more often than body and facial expressions). In the same way, expressions of joy, anger and sadness are more accurately recognized than other emotions. Labeling errors have examined as well.
