CAUSES OF SPEECH DISORDERS IN CHILDREN ; ПРИЧИНИ ПОРУШЕННЯ МОВЛЕННЯ У ДІТЕЙ
In: Psychological and Pedagogical Problems of Modern School; № 1 (2019); 127-137 ; Психолого-педагогічні проблеми сучасної школи; № 1 (2019); 127-137 ; 2706-6258 (2019)
Abstract: The article attempts to reveal the causes of speech disorders in children. It has been determined that speech development is associated with the formation of a set of skills (or abilities): a) the ability to speak, b) the ability to listen, c) the ability to read, d) the ability to write. Early childhood is the decisive age factor in speech system formation. The article reveals that a child should learn to talk after reaching a certain level of development of speech motor and auditory speech sound analysers and organs of articulation. Moreover, the article proves that the personality development of children with speech disorders occurs by the same laws as the personality development of “normal” children. The author has revealed the causes of speech disorders in children seen in the sound manifestation of their speech. Therefore, there is a defective pronunciation of the oppositional sounds of several groups. The consequences of the lack of formation of lexical and grammatical means of speech include the inaccurate understanding of the tasks and instructions of a teacher, difficulties in mastering the concepts and terms and in formulating own thoughts in the working process, weak development of coherent speech. Children with speech disorders have the low level of development of psychological preconditions for mastering learning skills (planning future work, identifying ways and means of achieving a goal, controlling own activity, ability to work at a certain rate). To confirm the theoretical findings the author examined the speech sound manifestation in order to reveal the degree of formation of the sound pronunciation both in isolation and in spontaneous speech. Pronunciation mistakes were evaluated in terms of the presence or absence of children’s phonetic (missed, distorted sounds) and phonemic (mixed, replaced sounds) disorders. In the first case, we can talk about the predominant disorder or insufficient formation of articulatory motility, the second – the insufficient formation of phonemic hearing or its disorders. The case of phonological mistakes in the child’s speech reveals the instability of the whole child’s speech system.
