Abstract:
Der Band präsentiert Forschungen des Romanisten Žarko Muljačić (1922-2009) zum untergegangenen Dalmatischen, Glottonym für eine Reihe dalmatoromanischer Sprachen. Žarko Muljačić untersucht aus unterschiedlichen methodologischen Perspektiven ein vernachlässigtes Gebiet der Romania. Dalmatische Dialekte wurden von der Antike bis zum 16. Jahrhundert (länger in der Stadt Krk) in Städten an der ostadriatischen Küste und auf den Inseln gesprochen (Krk, Osor, Rab, Zadar, Trogir, Split, Dubrovnik, Kotor, Budva, Bar, Ulcinj bis Lesh in Albanien). Die Untersuchungen dienen nicht nur der Rekonstruktion des über sehr wenige schriftliche Quellen verfügenden Dalmatischen, sondern berühren auch wichtige Ansätze für die Erforschung slavischer Sprachen in der westbalkanischen Region.
