Abstract:
Treballs Finals de Grau de Lingüística. Facultat de Filologia. Universitat de Barcelona, Curs: 2017-2018, Tutors: Joana Rosselló i Jordi Fortuny. Paraules clau: perifèria inicial, principi de projecció ampliat (PPA), llengües de subjecte nul o pro-drop, llengües de subjecte explícit o no pro-drop, trets de T, concordança ; [eng]This dissertation looks at the extent to which the initial periphery is involved in the derivation of English, German and Catalan transitive sentences of declarative or interrogative illocutionary force. Describing the configuration of the initial periphery in these three languages serves the purpose of comparing and constrasting its structural differences. These differences challenge whether the Extended Projection Principle (EPP) should be considered universal, and question the apparent evidence for pro i proEXPL in so-called pro-drop languages. Furthermore, a more flexible approach to the TP layer and the status of the subject lays the groundwork for a definition of the initial periphery which is not dependent on EPP requirements. Key words: initial periphery, Extended Projection Principle (EPP), pro-drop language, non-pro-drop languages, T features, agreement ; [ger]Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht, inwiefern die linke Satzperipherie in der Derivation englischer, deutscher und katalanischer transitiver Deklarativ- und Fragesätze eine Rolle spielt.
