In: De Benito Moreno, Carlota (2020). In: Fernández-Ordoñez, Inés. Madrid: Libros-CSIC, 19-56. (2020)
Abstract: Taking Menéndez Pidal’s concept of «dialectal vulgar speech» as a point of departure, I analyse four features of vulgar Spanish (namely, the use of preposition de in temporal adjuncts to express age, singular agreement with complex numerals that end in un(a), the order of pronouns in clitic clusters and the analogical forms of the present subjunctive of haber) with the goal of analysing their historical evolution as well as the sociolinguistic dynamics that vulgar features show.
