Gais et lesbiennes francophones à Toronto: mobilité, appartenances communautaires et bilinguisme
Labrie, Normand. - 2010
Abstract: Based on an empirical study conducted among 36 French-speaking Gay men and Lesbians in Toronto using discourse analysis, this article considers the city as a pluralistic space in which social actors have multiple identities, from which they can draw to acknowledge various belongings. Their sexual and linguistic identities are instrumental in their geographic and social mobility and facilitate their socialisation in this multilingual urban environment. The resulting bilingual practices vary from one individual to the other depending on their social and linguistic trajectory.
